Celia HALSTEAD Obituary

HALSTEAD, Celia Ann Jarrett LCSW, left us on January 14, 2018. Born April 24, 1945, she grew up in North Carolina until 1956, when her family moved to Tucson. Celia attended local schools and held degrees from both the U of A and ASU. She was a social worker and psychiatric social worker. She taught at the ASU School of Social Work, lectured nationally on health care, and won numerous awards. She loved family, dancing, travel, and art in all its forms. She was eternally optimistic that this world could be made a better place by actions, and she practiced this philosophy with courage and integrity. Her smile could light up a room. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine (Setzer) and Ralph Jarrett, and her daughter, Karen. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dale; daughter, Anne Schow (John); grandchildren, Joshua Fasman, James Schow, Elizabeth Vana, Daphne and Riley Schow; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dr. Janice Jarrett, Jennifer Jarrett, Kay Accordino, of Tucson; Beth Barr (Lafayette) of Scottsdale, and an extended family of nieces, nephews and in-laws, Farewell, my beloved. This world shall be a lesser place without you. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Celia's life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at El Casino Ballroom, 437 E. 26th St., from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited.

Dear Dale, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Celia. She has been on my mind over the last few weeks and I searched on Facebook to see if I could find her. She was my dear friend when we were young and we had many wonderful times together. We lost touch after you moved away. We saw each other when we both worked at St Joseph's Hospital in the late 1980's. We moved to Scottsdale in 1998 and I lost touch with many people in Tucson. My love to you and your family.
