Dan LOCKEY Obituary

LOCKEY, Dan 89, Pinetop, AZ, entered into eternal rest February 23, 2017 in Tucson. Born October 4, 1927 near Crockett, TX to William Andrew and Jessie Lockey. Dan served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines in the Pacific war zone at the age of 17 and in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and China. He was a welder and highly respected by his peers in the steel and construction industry. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Dan enjoyed cars and trucks and in his younger days raced stock cars against AJ Foyt on dirt tracks in Texas! While living in Queen Valley, AZ Dan spent spare time searching for the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine in the Superstition Mountains. Winters in Tucson found him playing Bingo and spending time at Desert Diamond Casino. His heart-warming smile and hearty laugh made Dan bigger than life! Dan was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Eunice Gunter, Edith Forrer and Jessie Daniels; brothers, James and William; wives, Maurine and Alma and son, Gary. He is survived by his sister, Juana Boykin, Tomball, TX; daughter, Cheryl (Mike) Martin, Snowflake, AZ; his partner, JoAnne Ciolli; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at VDO Clubhouse (behind) 8723 E. Ridge Terrace Drive, 85710. Rev. Jim Thelen, Ascension Lutheran Church, officiating.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
