I was sorry to hear of his death. Though we had not been in touch recently, I fondly remember his gentle and caring manner from times spent in his company more than 25 years ago. -- Stuart Gellman

I visited often with Mr. Purvis and his wife at Robert's Restaurant. He was a K-CUB listener back in the old days when it played country music. I was the owner of the station along with KIIM FM. He was one of the kindest, most gentle men I ever met. I admired him greatly. I will miss seeing him and his cowboy hat. America would be a better place if there were more men like him.

Dick was head grounds keeper at Santa Rita High School when I taught there. His work ethic was unmatched and he treated those grounds as though they were his own property. He was diligent in marking the fields for all athletic events and never once complained about anyones request for help. Soft spoken and with a mild manner he was a very special person to us in physical education and athletics.
Loved him. Irma Ficzeri - teacher, coach and AD at SRHS.
