LOPEZ, Maria V. Born May 7, 1939, Maria V. Lopez, went to her eternal resting place on December 20, 2017. She joins her parents, Thomas R. and Victoria C. Valenzuela, her daughter, Yolanda G. Flores and granddaughter, Malissa Y. Alvarez. Survived by her husband, Francisco A. Lopez Sr.; her children, Rebecca, Valentina, Tony and Sylvia; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Services to be held at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 507 W. 29th St., on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Mass on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. at Blessed Kateri. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE HEATHER MORTUARY.

Ma, its been a year you left this world. We continue to grief. My heart hurts and they tell me it will take time. I miss our talks, your smile, hearing your voice and especially when you called me Chula. Dad has a picture of you in his room and he talks to you everyday. He has good days and bad days. Ma, I know your in a better place you are no longer in pain. I ask you to watch over each and everyone of us. Until we meet again rest in peace my angel. Your daughter Becky!

A Beautiful Woman has left our world to start Her new journey with Our Lord! Thank You So Much for giving me your all when I didn't have none. Your time, kind words and laughter was all I needed to hear and it made me feel better. Your Love for my kids have always been immeasurable. I am a Stronger Person because of You. I know it was Your Love & Prayers for Us all that kept us going, but even more so now, You'll be watching over us. Our deepest and sincere condolences to Nino Pancho, Nina Becky, Nina Tina, Compadre Tony and Sister Sylvia.
Prayers for comfort and strength during this time and those hard moments to come.
She was one of the strongest women we knew; she is loved for her ability to be Chingona and gentle simultaneously. We will remember all those jokes us girls always laughed at; half the time, she was making them. She was an absolute treasure. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives, and we are thankful for you all as well. She accepted me and my family with no hesitation and never judged; and for that I will be forever grateful to her! I promised my parents, I would always remain close.
Please know that anything we did for Nina Mary and the family was with a clean/good heart; and we will always continue to be there as much as possible. WE are FAMILY!
She leaves us with a special nurturing fulfillment; she made us feel beautiful calling us Chula, giving her all and she literally cared for everyone. Her soft spoken voice, unbelievable strength, good will and optimism. Her instruction in the kitchen and her little black veil she always wore.
I am truly proud that her blood runs through my veins and carries with my sons. I am appreciative they had her in their lives. My Mom and Dad loved her with all they had!
I pray as she makes her journey, it is peaceful and full of beauty; as she truly deserves. She has been reunited with her parents and her loved ones who have passed
We LOVE you Nina!! Not a day goes by that we won't miss you! But knowing you are pain free and at Peace with loved ones who welcomed you, gets us through the heartache of your loss.
One day at a time! You are ALWAYS with us!

Every time that I smile, Every time that I sigh, I think of your face, and a tear escapes my eyes.
You were my world, my inspiration and my heart, but when you left me, I thought I would fall apart.
You were my best friend, my true "confidante", and that's not all you were, you were also my mom.
I didn't want to live without you, but you would have wanted me to, and if there's anyone I want to make happy, that anyone is you.
I would have give anything to have your back, but I know now that it was meant to be, for you are still watching from up there, and I know you're watching me.
