Lorna Ahern Obituary

Lorna Kaye Hoover Ahern born on June 23, 1959, to Joan and Paul Robert Hoover of Farmington, New Mexico. The youngest of three daughters, Lorna devoted her life to helping others. Family, friends, children, and animals all flourished under her grace, support, and care. After her move to Tucson, Lorna met and accepted the proposal of the love of her life, Jack, and they moved forward in life and in love as the owners--restaurateur and chef--of Ric's Cafe. Lorna is survived by her beloved husband, John J. Ahern; her mother, Joan Hoover (Aurora, CO); her mother-in-love, Margaret Edwina Ahern (Tucson), her sisters, Paula Hoover (Brownwood, TX) and Holly Swain (Arvada, CO), brothers- and sisters-in-love, Glenn D. and Margaret Mary Francis Boreman (Geneva, FL), Joanne Marie Ahern (Tucson), Frank Bumgarner and Mary Claire Ahern (Tucson), Charles and Patricia Ann Scott (Three Points); nephews, Edward Whitney (Los Angeles, CA), John and Jude Scott (Tucson), Anthony Ahern (Tucson); nieces, Heather Scott (Denver, CO) and Jennifer Scott (Tucson). Lorna always served the needs of others first and her priorities in life were her family and friends, her animals, and her home. EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY AND CEMETERY at 5801 E. Grant Rd. will host a viewing on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and service Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. All are invited. Following the service, join us for a Celebration of Lorna's life hosted by Anthony's in the Catalinas at 6440 North Campbell Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lorna Kaye Ahern to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

I always looked forward to seeing Lorna's smiling face on Sundays at the restaurant. I would bring my Labs with me on occasions and she knew I volunteered for the Lab rescue group here in Tucson and our conversations would always revolve around our love for dogs. Lorna was a wonderful, warm woman with a heart of gold and I am sure she will be missed by many. May God rest her soul.

Jack...I have had you in my prayers daily. I am so sorry... you know of all the people we left when we moved you and Lorna were never far from our minds. I have often imitated Lorna's "Booger Bear" over the years since we left. I could never do it the justice it deserved...but it was always good for a warm memory of you and Lorna. May God comfort and keep you in this time of sorrow. I love you Jack! Hang in there!

Lorna spent the first twenty years or so of her life in Casper Wyoming, and there were many people there who loved her. As one of her close friends from junior high school on, I can say being around Lorna was never dull, and she brought so much happiness to so many lives. We will never forget her.

Ric:

I know you must be struggling with your loss of Lorna. She was indeed a special woman, always gracing your cafe's front door and making guests feel like they were in her home rather than a restaurant. You might not remember me, but before retirement I often brought in a group of C/B RE agents for lunch. My thoughts are with you.
