Robert Annenberg Obituary

Lt. Col (retired) Robert B. Annenberg 80, died peacefully at home on May 26, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; brother, Andrew; his sons, Robert, Mark and Eric; daughter, Leigh Anne (John) and three grandchildren, Jeremy, David and Weston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sylvia and by his son, Kurt. Robert was born on December 2, 1930 in St. Paul, MN. After being a pitcher for the New York Yankees (farm team), he graduated from the University of Maryland in 1954 with a BA in Sociology and Criminology. He joined the US Air Force OSI in 1956 and was an accomplished pilot. He married Patricia in 1957 and settled in Washington, D.C. Switching to the US Army Intelligence, he was sent to Yale University to study Japanese. He served two tours in Vietnam and six years in Japan, to retire as an Intelligence Instructor at the Ft. Huachuca Army Base. The family is very proud of the many Meritorious Service Medals, US Army Commendation Medals and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm Award. Robert Annenberg was a man of high moral character and great integrity accompanied by a dry, sardonic humor. He loved his family and his country and was a true conservative patriot. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway Blvd., with burial to follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.

We have many fond memories of him and his family. We we're neighbor s at Grant Heights Japan AFB from 1967-70.
His children we're our best friends and still are in our hearts.
He was always so funny with silly didies.
Rest in Peace dear sir.

Bob was my brother-in-law and a favorite in the family for the 54 years he was married to my sister. He taught all of us many valuable lessons, and demonstrated the importance of taking responsibility for ones life and ones actions. He will be deeply missed and our hearts ache over the loss.

Bob Annenberg was also the Chief Investigator at the Pima County Public Defender's office when I was a student investigator and later lawyer there. He was always in the office early, and had a very dry wit. He taught us a lot about how to investigate a case.
I wish his family peace.
Love,
Carol Wittels
