Robert Eggleton Obituary

EGGLETON, Robert W., Sr., Our beloved Robert passed away peacefully on May 10, 2011 at the age of 85. He was born July 2, 1925 to Lt. Col Richard and Margaret Eggleton and was raised in Brooklyn, NY. While attending Erasmus high school, Bob joined the Marine Corps. He served for two years as an aerial photographer and was discharged on his birthday, July 2, 1945 as Technical Sergeant. Bob returned to Brooklyn, completed his education, and soon began work at H. Muehlstein and Company - a crude and synthetic rubber trading company. He married Ruth E. Ewen in 1951. They lived in New York, Chicago and Akron, Ohio. In 1968 Bob started Goldsmith & Eggleton; manufacturers of reprocessed rubber and polymer raw materials located in Akron and Wadsworth, Ohio. Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Rubber Group, and published several papers on rubber recycling for The American Chemical Society. In 1978 Bob married Marjory Sherman Weber of Lakewood, Ohio and they retired to Tucson in 1995. Bob enjoyed gardening, golf and camping. His love of the outdoors started as a Boy Scout in Troop 353 in Brooklyn, and Bob maintained friendships with his fellow scouts throughout his life. Bob is survived by his sister, Margaret Eggleton Sheeran Haney; his four children, Emily E. Bennett (Robert), Jane C. Eggleton, Susan M. Moran (John) and Robert W. Eggleton Jr. (Chantelle); stepson, Eric Weber and six grandchildren. His family members would like to thank the staff of Emeritus at Catalina Foothills and the tireless Kristina "Lulubell" Henry for their kindness and care. Memorial Services will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY at 5801 East Grant Rd., on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders, P.O. Robert always had a smile on his face, and no matter what was goinbg on, always had a joke to tell. He was a truly beautiful man, and my uncle. We will miss you Uncle Bob, and the world is a better place for knowing you. I know you and Marge are together again, and I will see your smiling faces together again someday.
