Wayburn Stewart JETER

JETER, Wayburn Stewart 91, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away March 4, 2017. He was born in Delta County, Texas on February 16, 1926. Wayburn graduated from Bonham High School in Bonham, Texas and received both B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Oklahoma and a Ph.D . degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was married to Margaret Ann McDonald on May 30, 1947. Wayburn worked as a microbiologist and microbiology educator and retired as a full professor at the University of Arizona. He was a member of several scientific organizations, including the American Society for Microbiology. American Association of Immunologists, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, and Sigma Xi. He was proud of his service in the United States Navy during the Second World War. In his spare time he had a passion for woodworking and photography. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann; his son, Randall Mark; daughter, Monette Ann; son, Marcus Kent; daughter-in-law, Christina and his granddaughters, Marisa and Rachel. His sister Mary May preceded him in death. Visitation will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Road, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E. Ft. Lowell Road, followed by a graveside service.
