I know that we are still dealing with your departure and that you are the light that makes us keep going. When the time was right you departed, our hearts fell, you gave us the strenght to smile, the sun stood still the star appeared. The cold days came, the rain became and now the sun is back to remind us of your warm love. God is never early and He is never late. He is always right on time and His plans for you and us are good. We miss you dearly

As we end the year of 2011 you are being remembered in a mass to honor your departure from this earth and our eternal life in heaven. This is our first Christmas and New Year celebration without your physical presence, but you were present with all your loved ones in spirt, mind and heart. As we prepare to end this very emotional year, we know that you have guided us with your light. Some days are dark and heavy, some seem less painful. The faith and courage you showed us helps to make our journey. The children remember your generosity, the young miss your encouragement, but we all miss the strong teacher you were to us. Thanks to you we accomplish so many things that would otherwise seem impossible. You showed us that the most important thing in life was family. You told us to love and help the less fortunate. Your example of hard work taught us that the sky is the limit, and the many years of life on earth you had proved your determination. We love you and miss your many ways of being you. Rest in peace, husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend.

You celebrated your first birthday in paradise, we can only imagine the celebration. We celebrated your birthday with a mass to honor you. We miss your serious face, your gentle smile, your encouraging voice and your strong will. We await the day we are reunited. God bless you and have mercy on your family.

As we celebrate your painful departure, we pray that you will guide us to love and care for each other just as you did. This week I was offered this beautiful Psalm 139: O Lord, you search me and you know me, you know my resting and my rising, you discern my purpose from afar. You mark when I walk or lie down; all my ways lie open before you. O where can I go from your spirit, or where can I flee from your face? If I climb the heaven, you are there. If I lie in the grave, you are there. If I take the wings of the dawn and dwell at the sea's furthest end, even there your hand would lead me, your righ hand would hold me fast. For it was you who created my being , knit me together in my mother's womb. I thank you for the wonder of my being for the wonders of all your creation.

I know that you are resting in peace. You were granted the knowledge to accept the things that you could not change and the courage to accept the things you could. You continue to be the strong person and guide us everyday. You are gone but not forgotten. I know that you will continue to inspire us to be strong and believe in eternal life. You mentioned that you were leaving this earth to a much better place and that is what makes your absence more acceptable. We miss you and know that we will meet again. Continue to shine on us and continue to bless us with Love, Peace and Acceptance.

To all my Family: Safely Home I am home in Heaven dear ones; Oh so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but Jesus' love illumined every dark and fearful glade. And he came himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread and with Jesus' arm to lean on, could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, pray to trust our father's Will. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth you shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, he will gently call you Home: oh the rapture of that meeting , Oh, the joy to see you come!

Alberto was a faithful devotee of Saint Francis of Assisi and tried to live his life reflecting this prayer: Lord make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness joy. O Divine Master; grant that I may no so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; for it is in giving that we receive it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Alberto G. Valenzuela, 96, entered into eternal rest surrounded by generations of family & friends and died listening to the live sounds of a band hired to serenade him outside his bedroom window in his final hours. In the days preceding his death he was visited by many longtime friends & relatives who came to say thank you & good bye. He left this world surrounded by love, gratitude, admiration, compassion & the sounds of his Mexico. Se murio soñando.

Carmen B.
Take care Carmen and please know that you and your family are in our prayers.
