Vera Irene Lewis Blan

BLAN, Vera Irene Lewis, originally a long-time resident of Arizona, who had recently moved to Horsham, PA, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was 94 years of age. Born in 1916 in Detroit, MI., Vera worked in Tucson, Arizona at Steinfeld's Department store, then Tucson Gas and Electric. In a career shift, she took a position at the University of Arizona, where she worked until her retirement. Vera loved good food and socializing, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Clayton D. Blan. Survived by her daughter, Marla Jane Penecale, who resides and works in Horsham, PA; her son, Bill Blan (Nina) both living in Coeur D Alene, ID and best friend, Arlene Hutton; four grandchildren, Bill Penecale Jr., Lynn Marie Liebel, Mary Jane Scullion and Leigh Ann Reitze; six great-grandchildren, Amanda Rae Penecale, Andrew William Penecale, Kyle William Scullion, Haley Shae Scullion, Sean William Reitze and Brooke Cecelia Reitze, all of whom live in Pennsylvania and brought great joy to her later years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vera's name to Valley Road Church of Christ, 978 Valley Road, Warrington, PA 18976 or the Church of Christ, 145 N. Country Club Road, Tucson, AZ 85716. Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN, 5401 South Park Ave., Tucson, AZ 85706.
