We just learned of Baxter's death. He was never anything other than good to us. We'll never forget that he found a bull for Dirk to ride! It's so sad that he died so young and left our cousins, Chauncy and Walker, without a father. Condolences to the Smith family.

My condolences to the Smith family. Adam was my best friend in high school. We had so much fun. My most vivid memory of him was that infectious grin he gave you when he had just done something to make you laugh. The world's loss is heaven's gain. You have fought the good fight my friend. May you rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to you Shawn, your mom, Georgia, Tony and Carter, and the rest of your family. Although I didn't know Adam very well, I know that you all were a very tight knit family and loved each other very much. May he rest in peace until you see him again.

To Mrs. Smith and Shawn - I was so very sorry to learn of Adam's passing. I still picture him as just one of your (Shawn's) little brothers that was around when we were playing Barbie's! As is the case with all your family, though, I know he grew up to be a fine, upstanding, handsome young man with a wonderful wife and family. I know how very hard it is to lose a brother, Shawn, after losing Michael many years ago. You will be in my prayers.....God bless, and again, I am so very saddened and sorry for this news. Love Cheryl (Smith) Van Haselen

When I told Meg and Baxter my family was involved in feeding the homeless of the Primavera Men's Shelter, Baxter asked me what need he could fill? I told him that the shelter always needed milk. He promptly went out and bought 30 gallons of milk and delivered it during a dinner my family and I was serving at the shelter. He continued to support the shelter popping in and donating milk and other necessities. He didn't brag or boast about his trips to the shelter but I knew the plight of the homeless had touched him and I knew about his "secret" trips there. What a generous guy! I feel good that he counted me as a friend. I'm so sorry for his family and friends to have lost such a formidable man! May God give you the gift of acceptance of this tragedy and the courage and strength on your journey through your grief and loss. - Casey Compernolle, Tucson, AZ

I haven't thought of Baxter in a while but he's definitely come up in conversation over the years. I worked for Baxter back in the early days of Brooks Fiber. First thing that comes to mind are many 2-liters of soda and shorts in the office. But also what a great man he was to me. Kind, supportive and gave me a new start. I haven't laughed much more in an office than with him and our little team. My deepest, heartfelt condolences for your family, Baxter! How lucky they were to have you in their lives. RIP Baxter Smith!!

Adam - the memories we shared growing up helped shape me into the person I am today. Remembering with love the family times, friend times and all the great times spent around the kitchen table and in the neighborhood. Rest well, my friend. Strength and love to the family you left to cherish your memory.
