Donald Dee Brookins

Donald Dee Brookins was born November 9, 1955. Our beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend peacefully passed away Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He impressed many with his strength and determination in which showed us all, that he is truly our Super Man. A Palo Verde graduate, Donnie fell in love with gymnastics, golf, riding on his Harley and working on endless projects to perfection. He enjoyed living simply, gaining joy and content from helping others. He was blessed with two daughters, Elizabeth (Brian) and Suzanne and he was especially proud of his four grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Zachary Gosewisch and Faith Nowell. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; father, Dee; sister, Patricia Akers and many nieces and nephews. Donnie's infectious spirit will be deeply missed by friends and family. He said when you visited him "you want to see what I am working on?" will forever be in your hearts. From the bottom of our hearts we thank Fran Boyd from Carondelet Hospice for providing Donnie with continuous comfort and compassion, and to all the others at Carondelet for comforting us thru our most challenging times. We know that those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not be faint. Donnie, you will forever be greatly missed, until we are dancing together once again and soaring on the eagles wings. We Love You "PaPa". A Memorial Service to celebrate Donnie's life will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
