George MCGEE Obituary

MCGEE, George W. passed into the loving arms of God on September 2, 2017. He was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska on April 11, 1925 to Keith E. and Mary McGee, and raised in Colby, Kansas. He went to watchmaking school in Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Juanita Puckett. They married on January 18, 1948 and celebrated 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2002. They had three children, Peggy Holmes of San Marcos, TX, Keith McGee (Mary) of Chicago, IL, and Victoria McGee (William Hubbard) of Tucson. They were also blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. George's career as a quality engineer took him to IBM where he spent 25 years and retired in 1988. He served in WWII in the 109th Evacuation Hospital unit, which was attached to General Patton's Third Army. He received five battle stars, the French Legion of Honor, and served as the president of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. George will be remembered by all who knew him as a gentleman, a jester, and a man of great faith and integrity. Active in his church since 1980, George would like, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church, where a Celebration of his Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

Today September 2nd a dear friend and I said good bye. God bless his journey to his heavenly reward. What a courageous man and a good honest life he lived. I have enjoyed a small part in his life I shall never forget and always be grateful for. Maybe we will meet again. George you are in my thoughts always. God speed. From a song we shared long ago, I will be seeing you.
Sincerely

WE COULD NOT HAVE HAD BETTER FRIENDS THAN JUNITA AND GEORGE. AUGUST OF THIS YEAR MARKED OUR 40TH ANNIVERSARY AS FRIENDS SINCE WE MET IN WHITE PLAINS, NY IN 1977.
OUR FAMILY VISITED IN BOCA RATON, AND LATER IN TUCSON TUCSON. HE AND JUANITA CAME TO RALEIGH SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS.
THEY TAUGHT US THE JOY OF TRAVELING, WE VISITED SEDONA AND THE GRAND CANYON WITH THEM.
GEORGE COULD BE AS DEAD PAN A JOKESTER AS ANY STAND-UP COMIC. YET HE WAS SINCERE, CARING AND MOST OF ALL A GENTLEMAN.
WE WILL MISS HIM, I DO NOW! AND THE GALLAGHER FAMILY WILL NEVER FORGET THE McGEE FAMILY.
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND, AND LET ME KNOW IF THEY HAVE LIGHTS UPER!!!

I have been privileged to have George as a passenger in my WW2 jeep, for the Veterans Day Parade for many years. He will be missed.
