ANDERSEN, Lucile "Lucie" Mary Wallbaum Born April 18, 1925 in Rudd, Iowa, died January 5, 2018 in Tucson, AZ. She is survived by daughters, Lindy Andersen Brigham and spouse, Stephen Brigham, Susan Lee Andersen and spouse, Robert Fernandez; grandchildren, Neal Fernandez and spouse, Charlotte and great-grandchildren, Victor Fernandez and William Fernandez, David Fernandez and spouse, Juliette and great-grandchild, Gabriel; sons, Chris George Andersen and spouse, Gloria Andersen grandchildren, Lisa Andersen, Sara Andersen and great-grandchildren, Kiera and Celia Mae; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Andersen, and grandchild Alexandra Andersen. Preceded in death by: husband, Myron Charles Andersen; son, Myron Charles Andersen II; mother, Bessie Maude Gettemy Wallbaum; father, George Frederick Wallbaum; sister, Ruth Wallbaum Mars; brothers, Ivan George Wallbaum and Willis Frederick Wallbaum. Graduated from Rudd High School (Iowa) 1942, attended University of Iowa. Joined the Cadet Nurse Corps and spent six months at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation as part of CNC training. Graduated from University of lowa School of Nursing in 1947, earned a BSN in 1948. Worked at University Hospitals as an OR nurse. She married Myron, life long friend and classmate in 1949. After his graduation from the University, together with their growing family they spent a number years in the Far East where Myron was employed with Standard Vacuum Oil Co and Esso Eastern Oil Company. Lucie volunteered in many nursing related projects while living overseas, including Project Hope. Her delight was learning about people of other cultures and living in those cultures. After retiring they lived in Houston, TX about 30 years and were involved with hospice volunteer work. Lucie enjoyed weaving, especially rag rugs and was an active member of the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild after moving to Tucson in 2006 where she continued her hospice work. Lucie was a member of Unity Church since 1976. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a hospice of your choice. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

Lucy and I had only a brief time to become friends at Campana del Rio but that brief time was warm and meaningful. We often had breakfast together and chatted about everything under the sun. I miss her.

I'm extremely proud to be the niece of this incredible woman. She spread her compassion and intelligence around the world as well as to family and friends. She will be sadly missed and often praised. My condolences to her family and friends. They will be consoled with many fond memories.
