Ruth Falconer ROOT

ROOT, Ruth Falconer 1924 - 2017 Ruth Mardell Falconer Root of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully on July 28th, surrounded by her children and pastor. Ruth was born on October 11, 1924 in Brainerd, MN, to George and Alvina Falconer. Her parents and six siblings preceded her in death. After finishing school, Ruth moved to Washington D.C. to join the war effort. While working at the War Department, Ruth met her soulmate and lifelong love Jack D. Root, Sr. After an eight week courtship, they married in Chicago on October 27, 1944. Theirs is a love story for the ages: 72 years of marriage, love, laughter, and family. Along with Jack Root, Sr., Ruth is survived by her children, Diane Root and Jack Root, Jr.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. After living in Illinois, California, and upstate New York, Ruth and Jack relocated to Tucson in 1979 and never looked back. Ruth's zest for living, outgoing and loving nature, and innate optimism drew people to her throughout her life. She worked for years as a tax preparer, and was an expert bridge player. She loved to golf, hike, travel and volunteered in the community wherever she lived. She even mastered the iPhone in her 80's! Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Roy Loewenstein and staff at ACP Internal Medicine for their superb and compassionate care, and also to her daily caregivers; she loved them all. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at The Forum Retirement Community, 2500 N. Rosemont Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rincon United Church of Christ or the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.
