Timothy BISHOP

BISHOP, Timothy left this life September 13, 2017 after a valiant two year battle with multiple myeloma. He leaves behind his wife, Leigh Sorensen Bishop and young son, Charles Bishop. Other survivors include his parents, Charles and Judy Bishop; his sister, Crista (Rob) Abel; brother, Craig (Liba) Bishop; nieces and nephews, Whitney (Angelo Fazio) Smith, Zachary (Kaitlin Quan) Abel, Samantha (Tony) Smith, and Jeremy (Aly Morales) Bishop; grandnieces, Lucy Bishop and Faith Fazio; mother and father-in-law, Terry and Eric Sorensen; sister-in-law, Kia (Brett Burkhardt) Sorensen and their children, Ada and Liam. Timothy Charles Bishop was born on December 16, 1958 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He spent his childhood in New Mexico and Colorado, moving to Yuma, Arizona to graduate from Yuma High School. He spent the next year touring with Up With People throughout the United States and Venezuela. He received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Arizona State University, pursued graduate work at Northern Arizona University, and earned his medical degree with the University of Arizona School of Medicine. He completed training with a Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque. Tim joined Spokane Cardiology in 2002 (now Spokane Providence Cardiology). Time joined the love of his life, Leigh Sorensen, in marriage on October 10, 2009 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Tim felt that Leigh brought out the best in him, and Charlie's birth made their lives complete. He was a dedicated dad and a conversation with Tim always included a story about Charlie. Tim was a gifted musician and photographer. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fly fishing, cycling, and backpacking. He was a loving husband, father and son. A kind and gentle man, he was loved by those who knew him. He lived his life seeking the good in others. He walked in beauty and will never be forgotten. Our beloved Timothy. The family wishes to thank the many doctors who cared for him, the Providence Sacred Heart Hospital Oncology team, the team at St. Lukes's Rehabilitation Institute, and multitude of friends who supported Tim through this journey. A remembrance service was held in Spokane. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the International Myeloma Foundation (myeloma.org) or Cancer Can't (cancercan't.com).
