John Floyd Hemmer, M.D. It is with sorrow that we report that our beloved John passed away on October 9, 2012. A rare combination of intellect, humor and heart, he was a fine physician and a devoted and loving husband and father who will be greatly missed. Born in Indiana, John was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University. At IU Medical School, he won the Edwards fellowship for highest first-year grades, and the anatomy, neuroanatomy, and pharmacology prizes; was elected Alpha Omega Alpha in his junior year; and finished first in his class. He completed his residency and a fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Michigan. In Tucson, John practiced with Arizona State Radiology; and was on the faculty of UMC, where he was the recipient of two George R. Barnes teaching awards. John was predeceased by his father, Indiana state senator Floyd Hemmer; mother, Marion and stepfathers, famed Indy 500 driver/owner/builder Lou Moore and Indianapolis cardiologist Paul Tischer. He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly; three much-loved children, Jennifer (Matthias Schlingmann) and her children, Ellery and Trey; Juliana Irene and David Paul Christian; his wife's beloved family and valued colleagues and friends. Services will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.
