A. Ross Obituary

A. Delivan Ross 4/24/1913 - 4/20/2011 Del passed away peacefully in his sleep at TMC Hospice, "Peppi's House", just four days before his 98th birthday. He was a man of great integrity who left us with a legacy of commitment to family, love expressed to all in very personal ways, and a wonderful sense of humor. Born in Casselton, ND and raised in Fargo, he moved to Tucson in 1946 after serving in WWII with the Navy. He worked for Motor Supply Co. until he went to work for New York Life Insurance Co. in 1957. In 1980 he was named Southern Arizona's Association of Life Underwriters "Man of the Year". He was a Charter Member and President of Tucson Breakfast Lions Club, as well as co-founder, with the late Jack Newman, of Executives Assoc. of Tucson (EAT). He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time at his summer cabin in Pinetop. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lee Ross and his parents, Grace and Andrew M. Ross. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Margaret "Peggy" Ross; his three children, Erin Lee "Kip" (Bill) Dettmer, Andy (Helga) Ross and David (Terri) Ross; nine grandchildren, Christie (Tim) Trapp, Kathy (Mark) Basham, Ross (Anne) Dettmer, Beth (Georges) Azzie, Heather (Jeremiah) Morgado, Heidi (Stephen) VanDruff, Tiffany Ross, Tobie Ross and Temma Ross; 15 great-grandchildren, Geoffrey and Cameron Trapp, Jordan, Mack and Austin Basham, Michael, Katie and Lily Dettmer, Simone and Gabriel Azzie, Avalon and Maxwell VanDruff, Mariah, Luke and Hannah Morgado; four stepchildren, Marj House, Anne (David) Wickholm, Helen (Ron Shannon) Walthier and John (Marianne) Walthier; ten step-grandchildren, Jon (Kara) and Marc (Tobi) House and Rachel (Ty) Glines, Sharon (Royce) Hunt, Joy (Scott) Bennett, Heather Wickholm, Amber and Matt Roberts, Nicholas and Justin Walthier and nine step-great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley Rd., Tucson 85718, with interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, 3555 N. Oracle (Prince & Oracle). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Chapter of American Parkinson Disease Foundation (mail and make checks to AZ-APDA, 5905 E. Pima St., Tucson, AZ 85712. Arrangements by HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

Dear Peggy, Just learned of Del's passing on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this sad time. Cindy and I would like to come to the service, but it is too short notice with work. Please let us know when you would feel like visiting and we would love to stop by (326-1560).
