Alice STONE Obituary

STONE, Alice Linne 5/10/1964 - 2/27/2017 You danced with cancer until your legs finally gave out. Alice was a great mother and wife to Leanne and Kim Stone. She was a loving sister, aunt and daughter to, Anne, Lydia, Evie and Dan Keys and Conrad and Nancy Istock and a terrific nurse. Alice loved her husband and daughter more than is humanely possible. She found joy and faith in nature and loved to hike, bike and run. She loved being near animals-pets, wildlife, birds, insects, you name it. Alice always wanted to keep learning. She loved all of her friends-old and new. She had tremendous faith in a higher power who guided her through difficult decisions and situations so she could act in her own and others' best interests. Our higher power, who are here with us. Thank you for our many blessings. We pray for the best world possible; that Thy will be done, for all the people, creatures, plants and natural resources of this earth. Give us this day, all that we need, and forgive us our mistakes, as we give love and forgiveness even to those who have hurt us. Please guide our hands and hearts, that we may increase the good in the world. Teach us Faith, Humility, Gratitude, Strength and Hope as we forever strive toward your vision of freedom, justice, love, health and happiness for ALL people, no exceptions. Amen" Alice's Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at 2841 N. Orlando Ave., Tucson AZ, 85712. Arrangements by ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.

Alice always had a quiet way and a warm smile. I am sorry to hear of her passing. The world does not seem as bright without her.

So sorry to learn Alice passed away. We met at a reunion class reunion a few years back and she was the life of the party. Always hoped to see her again soon. All the best to Alice's family and friends whom I know will miss her dearly.

Oh no! I am so sorry to learn that Alice has passed away from a terrible disease. I knew her back when she was my colleague, then known as Miss Istock, teaching science at Mansfeld Middle School & of course later as Mrs. Stone. When my daughter was in 6th grade, Alice was working in a lab at the University & graciously met with my daughter & her lab partners as they set out to create an entry to the science fair. Darned if they didn't come in second in the entire region! I'll always remember her as a consummate professsional, an excellent teacher, & a lovely human being. The world was a better place for her being a part of it.

My heart goes out to Alice's family and friends. While I never met her, I have worked with her mom, Nancy Istock, for many years. It sounds like she possessed a strength and zest for life just like her mom. I am so sorry for the loss of this beautiful woman.

I read Alice's Op-Ed today in the Arizona Daily Star. For far too long we have ignored the issues of Death with Dignity. My husband also faced Alice's situation and we talked at length about this. Thank you Alice for thinking about sharing such an important message during a very difficult time. I send many warm thoughts to Alice's family.

I was a 7th grade student at Mansfeld Middle School when Ms. Istock was my science and home room teacher. Her father was a colleague of my father at the U of A. She introduced me to science and opened doors for me to explore. Our class took field trips to her parent's laboratory at the U of A. It helped me immeasurably as I got older and now am able to apply things I learned then to my career now. To her family I extend my deepest sympathies for your loss is shared by me and many others.
