Arlene Forsan LINTON

LINTON, Arlene Forsan 87, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away January 31, 2018 at Somerby Assisted Living Facility. Arlene was born in Duluth, Minnesota on December 25, 1930 to parents Arthur and Mathilde Forsan. She graduated from Duluth Central High School and attended the University of Minnesota at Duluth for three years, before completing her degree in Education from the University of Minnesota's main campus in Minneapolis. She married Duaine Leonard Linton, a 1945 graduate of Duluth Central, on August 25, 1951. Arlene and Duaine moved frequently in the early years of their marriage, and she taught at Veteran's Memorial Junior High in Camden New Jersey and East Junior High in Binghamton, New York. They lived 16 years in Huntsville, AL where she taught 8th grade Mathematics at Whitesburg Middle School. Arlene's teaching passion was to help students who were struggling with Math. They next lived 37 years in Tucson, AZ before relocating to Santa Rosa Beach, FL this past summer. Arlene was active with her church wherever she lived; in Huntsville and Tucson she served as church organist for over 25 years. Arlene Linton is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Duaine Linton; children, Cynthia A. Linton (Murray B. Jones, Jr.) of Fountain Hills, AZ; Richard D. Linton (Cyndy S. Linton) of Miramar Beach, FL; and David A. Linton (Nancy A. Linton) of Herndon, VA; and grandchildren, Murray B. "Trip" Jones, III., Chase Linton Jones, Lauren Linton, and Alexander Linton. A Memorial Service will be held at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
