Barbara Louise BARKLEY

BARKLEY, Barbara Louise (Randolph) 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends at her home in Sonoita, Arizona on May 26, 2017 after a valiant battle against cancer.  Barbara was born in Tucson, AZ to Luther and Alice Randolph. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Barkley and is survived by her four children, Kimberly Fields (Robert), Sierra Vista, Kiersten Lowry (Patrick) Murphys, CA, Katherine O'Brien (Edward), Sonoita and James Carter (Helen), San Diego, CA; six grandchildren, Nicholas Fields, Robert Fields, Kayte Lynn Lowry, Kristopher Lowry, Emily Fields and Kevin Lowry; two great- grandchildren, Landon and Lauren Fields;  two sisters, Doretta Kane and JoAnne Pommerville;  two brothers, William Randolph and Daniel Randolph and her precious dogs Annie and Foxy. Barbara grew up both in Sonoita and Tucson and spent several years in the Bay area, CA where she graduated from Albany High and raised her children born from her first marriage to Peter L. Carter. She later returned to her roots in Arizona to that special place known to her as a child called Sonoita.  She was seen as a pillar in the Sonoita community and was loved by all. She served Sonoita well as a Real Estate Broker/Owner, Developer and Property Manager.  She also volunteered numerous hours over the years serving on local boards and committees which includes the Sonoita Crossroads Forum, Sonoita/Elgin Chamber of Commerce and founded the annual local Community Christmas party as well as being named, "Woman of the Year" in 2003. Her passions included music, dancing, gardening, entertaining, cooking, sewing, children and helping those in need. A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at  Sonoita Bible Church, 3174 Hwy 83 Sonoita, AZ.  All are welcome!  Barbara will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Dick Barkley at Black Oak Cemetery in Elgin. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to either the Wounded Warrior Project, The Gospel Rescue Mission or Sonoita Bible Church Benevolence Fund.
