Beverly Weiser Obituary

Beverly Weiser 2/5/1925 - 5/14/2014 Beverly was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. After high school, she studied nursing and became a Registered Nurse. When her future husband, Bill (Bernard William) returned from World War II, they married and relocated to Springfield, Ohio, where they lived and raised their children, Bud "Irwin" and Judith "Judy" with complete love. Beverly was a stay-at-home mom, but found time to be active in the sisterhood of Temple Sholom and later as a member of the board. When the children entered their teens, she went to work as a nurse, first in a neighborhood nursing home, then a doctor's office, and finally at the School of Nursing at Community Hospital. She loved teaching and she loved her colleagues, some of whom have remained in touch with her to this day. At one point in her teaching career the requirements for instructors were changed to require a bachelor's degree in addition to a nursing license. Beverly enrolled at Park College and took classes at night over many years, all the while teaching fulltime and caring for her family. She graduated with a degree in Social Psychology. Beverly continued to expand throughout her life, becoming more interested in new things and more lighthearted, the result of being around young people in both her work and her college education. She moved to Tucson, Arizona at the age of 82 in order to be closer to her daughter. While living in an active retirement community, she met and married Pete Nelson. Beverly was fortunate to find a joyous and abiding love after being a widow for over a decade. Her openness to new things and situations graced her life. Her sense of humor and love has graced us all. Beverly is survived by her children, Judith of Tucson and Bud (Vera) of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Sara (Dan O'Connor) of Washington, DC, Daniel (Ashley) of Rio, WI and great-granddaughter, Emilia Mary Weiser of Rio, WI. She is also survived by husband, C.G. "Pete" Nelson of Tucson; brother, Paul Travis (Wilma) and sister-in-law, Margo "Rocky" Weiser, all of Cincinnati. Donations may be made in Beverly's memory to Congregation M'kor Hayim, P.O. Box 31806, Tucson, AZ. 85751 or Temple Sholom, 2424 N. Limestone St, Springfield, OH, 45503.

My sympathies to your family for the loss of a wonderful woman. I knew "Mrs. Weiser" from attending Community Hospital School of Nursing but I later met "Bev" and Bud, as they were our weekly volunteers on Same Day Surgery for a long time... Spent many pleasant days there when they worked/laughed with us! Wonderful, wonderful couple.
