Charles "Chuck" HEATHMAN

HEATHMAN, Charles "Chuck" born May 7, 1930 in Granville, MO passed away on January 29, 2018. He was 87 years old. Survived by his devoted wife, Sharon of Tucson; son, Ronald; and granddaughter, Ruby of Long Beach, CA. Chuck attended Moberly Junior College in Moberly, MO; Portales H.S. in Portales, NM; and the University of California-Santa Barbara, CA. He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years and the U.S.Air Force for 12 years. While in the Navy he was deployed for four combat tours during the Korean war from 1950 to 1953; stationed on two different aircraft carriers; the U.S.S. Valley Forge-CV45 and the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard-CV31. He worked in the air department on the flight deck with the catapult crew. He was awarded several combat citations and medals during this period. After transferring from Navy to the Air Force he worked with the Atlas, Thor, and TitanII ICBM missiles until his retirement from the service in 1970 with the rank of Master Sergeant. After his military service he was employed by the City of Tucson and Pima County as a Safety Engineer in the Risk Management Division; retiring in 1992. Chuck enjoyed many activities including golf, shooting pool and drag racing. He requests that no service or memorial be conducted. In lieu of flowers, he requests consideration of a donation to The Myositis Association.
