Charlotte May Maier Acton 11/16/1924 - 5/30/2014 89, of Oro Valley, died Friday, May 30, 2014. On May 12th, shortly before her death, she had celebrated her 68th wedding anniversary with her husband, Les Acton. Born a farm girl in Linton, North Dakota, Charlotte's decision to move to Seattle in 1943 at age 19 was the turning point in her life. In Seattle, Charlotte met and fell in love with Les Acton, an Army Air Corps captain from Tucson. She and Les were married on Mother's Day, May 12, 1946, a marriage which would see her ably assist her husband in his long and successful mining industry career. Her 68 year marriage to Les included ten years living in Irian Jaya, Indonesia. The couple also traveled to many countries and continents, making three trips around the world. Her greatest interest, however, was her family, and she took much satisfaction in her three sons, 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. A private graveside service for family and invited close friends was held for Charlotte at Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY.
