Dallas M. Peyton Obituary
Dallas M. Peyton Capt. US Army retired, 90, of Tucson went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 11, 2013 - still getting around on his own. Dallas was born January 29, 1923 in Paducah, KY. He married Beuna Francis Cotham on June 9, 1943, just before shipping out to Germany with the 20th Armored Division. As a halftrack machine gunner, PFC Peyton was involved in the liberation of the concentration camp at Dachau. He received several combat decorations, including the Bronze Star. He served as a lieutenant in the Korean War and retired as a captain in 1966, when he moved from Ft. Huachuca to Tucson. For 32 years Dallas served as a volunteer with the Tucson Police Department's Police Assist Group, "retiring" as the "Commander" of PAG and receiving several awards from TPD and the City of Tucson. During the last decade Dallas spoke publicly about WWII and Dachau, sometimes along with Holocaust survivors. The week before he died, he spoke to several high school classes. Dallas and Beuna were faithful members of Catalina United Methodist Church since 1967. Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas M. and Susie Peyton. He is survived by his wife, Beuna; sons, David (Janna), Jerry (Georgia), Frank (Sabina) and Ken; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Catalina United Methodist Church Chapel, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
