David A. Lynch 68, passed away on January 4, 2013, at his home in Chula Vista, CA after a long heroic struggle with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his beloved wife Gloria; loving children, Amy (Rob) Pike and granddaughter, Carson, Ryan (Stacy), and Jenny; sisters, Mary (Don) Romano, Kate (Dennis) Leahy, Nellie (John) Patterson; and a devoted fan club of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, step-children and step-grandchildren. Born in Chicago and raised in Wilmette, IL, Dave was a college athlete at Xavier University in Cincinnati, and he taught and coached boys and girls basketball and girls softball at Santa Rita High School. His 1978 boys basketball team was state runner-up and his 1984 girls basketball team was undefeated State Champion. He finished his teaching career at Rincon High School. He was a city, state, and national handball champion as an amateur and he went on to play professionally attaining a rank as high as 8th in the nation. He was a great athlete, teacher and coach and was special to all that knew him, but he was an even better husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend. All were blessed who had him in their lives. Vigil Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at GLEN ABBEY MEMORIAL PARK, Bonita, CA, and Funeral Mass Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima in Chula Vista, CA.
