Don Luis Redondo Obituary

Don Luis Durazo Redondo 1921-1996 How quickly a year goes by. Did you get the Cohibas? I paid for "VERY SPECIAL DELIVERY". You and Joe no doubt have made some new friends. I remember what a kick you got out of Tony Curtis dressed in drag in Some Like it Hot. Jean Simmons was so beautiful in Guys and Dolls. No one could sing Stormy Weather like Lena Horne. I'll venture a guess that you still haven't met any lawyers up there, with the exception of Henry Severyn. Driving by El Rio Golf Course the other day, I remember you telling me, that as a kid, back in the 30's you made 25 cents for caddying 18 holes. During what were the early days of the Tucson Open you carried golf bags for Bob Hope and Fred Astaire. Each tipped you 5 dollars. That must have bought a lot of beans and tortillas in those days. A guy came by the other morning asking if I wanted to "get rid " of the Tata truck. I sent him packing before I lost my temper. I'm a year older than you were when you retired from the railroad. No end in sight for me yet pop. Wish I had been as smart as you about these things. When times are tough I miss you most of all. When I was a little boy you comforted me with a hug, you dried by tears and said the magic words, "No lloras mi Rey." My mom is fine and I doubt a day passes when your name does not cross her lips. She is still truckin' all over town in the blue Jimmy. I love you and look forward to seeing you pop, just not too soon. I've got lots of work to do to assure admission. As Winston Churchill once said, "I'm ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is ready for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter." And in the words of Roy Rogers, "Happy Trails To You, Until We Meet Again". Bobby.

I remember the night you graduated from high school and how proud your dad was that night. Quite a party there on the back porch. I also remember him sitting at the table enjoying one of Pauline's amazing meals. Particularly the very spicy ones that involved a bathroom hand towel. I mostly remember how much he enjoyed being with you. He and the Lord are surely spending some great time together, and no wonder, Jesus wanted him closer.

I don't know you, but read your "In Memoriam" today, which brought me to tears! If only my own children would think of me in the same way that you revere your father, I would know that I did right by them. But, I wouldn't appreciate the Cohibas, as I am a non-smoker! What a special tribute to your father. Every son (or daughter) should be blessed with a parent for whom they have these feelings . . . you are lucky, indeed. "And, in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." The Beatles.

Dear son of Mr. Redondo,
That was a beautiful letter you wrote about your father. What Love you must of had for each other. I lost my mom in 2008, and my Dad is still alive, he is in his 90"s.
I am going to look at my children and grandchildren with more Patience, more Love, and Understanding because of you. Thank You.

Hi Bobby,
I'm not sure we know each other, but I went to Pueblo High with Eddie Redondo. Are you his Brother?
I just wanted to let you know that for years I have been reading the beautiful stories you write your Father
each year in the Obituaries. I have never seen so much love from a Son to his Father as you write here each year. I picture you talking to him as if he was sitting right across the table from you. Your tribute to him each year is so funny, heartwarming, but most of all full of so much love. Any man would be proud to have you for a Son. May your Father continue to rest in peace among our Lord and his loved ones.
Till next year,
Josie Reggio Cervantez

Hello Bob and Pauline. Time does go by very quickly. It doesn't seem that 15 years have passed since Don Luis Durazo Redondo left this world.

God Bless you both and may the Good Lord watch over Don Luis Durazo Redondo forever.
