Edwin Young Obituary

YOUNG, Edwin F. (Win), age 58, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006. Win is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin B. and Marie W. Young of Phoenix. He is survived and loved by his daughter, Heather Marie Burgoyne (David); granddaughter, Jordan Alexandra; sister, Talis Hollingsworth (Larry) of Sacramento, CA; cousins, William (Bill) Boykin of Gilbert, AZ, Virginia Perkins of Chandler, AZ; good friend, Mari Silverman and many cousins. A graduate of Central HS, 1965, Win attended Indiana University. Among numerous gymnastics, swimming and diving championships, Win also won the Gold Medal in the 1967 Pan American Games and the Bronze Medal in the 1968 Olympics, both on the ten Meter Tower. In 1997 Win was inducted in to Arizona's Top 50 Athletes. It was his honor to coach diving at West Point, The University of Arizona and the Tucson Driving Club. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd., Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Family Care Foundation, 6300 E. El Dorado Plaza, Tucson, AZ or U of A Swimming and Diving Program, Lungbusters c/o U of A Athletics, McKale Center #210 Tucson, AZ 85721.

Win was my diving coach while I was in high school. I was horrible and Win really made a diffence coaching me to a top 3 placing in state.
