Elizabeth HARRIS Obituary

HARRIS, Elizabeth "Libby" 10/4/1921 - 3/1/2016 Our mom, grandma, great- grandma, aunt, cousin, friend and much more left this world in peace on March 1 of this year in her home surrounded by family after a long and full life. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard "Dick" Harris in 2007, but leaves behind all of her children, their children and their children. Her kids, Janet Smith, Charles Harris, Ken Harris, Andy Harris and loving daughters-in-law, Raquel Harris and Mirna Harris. Grandkids, Kevin Smith, Jason Harris, Bryan Harris, Tanya Fong, Lindsey Fong, Luis Harris, Isaiah Harris and Aliana Harris and great-grandkids, Madeline (Tanya's) and Kaia (Lindsey's). Born in San Francisco General Hospital in 1921, Libby grew up in Los Angeles, graduating from Fairfax High School and UCLA, where she met her husband, Dick. At the end of Dick's World War II military service they moved to San Anselmo while Dick attended Presbyterian seminary. The minister's life took them to Sacramento, Fresno, Phoenix and finally Tucson, where they spent 25 years. Libby served as the librarian at the then brand new Canyon del Oro high school for all of those years, retiring in 1987. She loved the kids who flowed through there and often the kids of those kids, and retained strong friendships with many in the Tucson community. Libby and Dick retired to a parcel in the redwoods of Occidental in Sonoma County, CA, where they built their dream house with their own hands and those of friends and family, and spent the remainder of their years.
