Evelyn D. OWEN

OWEN, Evelyn D. 89, of Tucson, AZ, passed away February 1, 2018 surrounded by her family. She lost a quick fight with lung cancer. Evelyn was born December 9, 1928, in the Township of Hampden, Columbia Co., Wisconsin to Martin and Ruby Mickelson. She married Charles Owen October 28, 1950 at the Spring Prairie Lutheran Church in Keyser, Wisconsin. In 1953, she, Charles, and their first son, Tom, moved to Los Angeles, CA for Charles' work in the aerospace industry. Evelyn enjoyed teaching school and being a stay-at-home mom in California and New Mexico before she and Charles returned to the Los Angeles area. After retirement, she and Charles moved to Tucson, AZ to be around their family. She will always be remembered as the one who introduced lutefisk to the desert dwelling family. Evelyn was a member of the St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church where she was active in a number of volunteer activities. She especially enjoyed the "Nine O'Clock Class" and Adult Formation. Evelyn is survived by her son, Tom (Lindy Cote); and daughter-in-law, Sandy. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Dan (Madhvi), Mike Hodges-Owen (Sharon), Courtney, and Brooke; by two step-grandchildren, Tiffany Cote, and Olivia Cote; and by three great-grandchildren, Avery, Quinn, and Ava. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and sons, David and Stephen. A Memorial service will be held Sunday, February 25, 2018 at St. Philips in the Foothills Episcopal Church at 2:30 p.m. The internment will follow at the church columbarium. Friends are invited to join our family in celebrating Evelyn's life.
