Frederick C. NEIDHARDT

NEIDHARDT, Frederick C. 5/12/1931 - 10/7/2016 Fred Neidhardt, 85, a resident of Academy Village, Tucson, passed away on October 7 , 2016 due to injuries from a recent fall. His children were by his side when he passed. Fred grew up in Philadelphia, graduated from Kenyon College in 1952 and earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1956. He led a distinguished career as a researcher and professor of microbiology, becoming widely known as a teacher, mentor, innovator, and influential author. Fred is survived by his sons, Rick Neidhardt (Kristi Olson-Neidhardt) and Marc Chipault (Jenny Chipault); daughter, Jane Neidhardt (David Lobbig); three granddaughters; sister, Carol Karsner; brother-in-law, Ray Chipault; and his first wife, Elizabeth (Tish) Neidhardt. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Germaine (Geri) Chipault. Fred cared deeply about progressive social and environmental causes and was active in many organizations.
