I can´t believe it´s been over a decade that you have been gone. I have thought of you often and wondered what we would be confiding about to each other or laughing about something that happened. We had some good times with the gang at the ranch riding horses and just hanging out having so much fun there and at the Arena. The time in Tombstone Helldorado days with the horses and the gang. I wish we could relive those times. Some day we all will be together again. Until then watch over us and your family who misses you terribly I´m sure.
Sending you lots of love.

I still remember you from grade school. You were very handsome. When we went to high school we lost touch because I went to Salpointe and you went to Pueblo. Hope you are enjoying heaven. We know you earned it. I can't believe another year has passed. You have been gone 11 years.

The memories of living and growing up on Ohio street across from George including the hunting and mistchief will allways be remembered as the best times in my life. You were a big brother to me and taught me the things that would be important in my life. You will always be remembered and I will always be grateful for the good old times. In behalf of the Acuna family our hearts are with his family for the loss of a great man.

To the Family,
I’m very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet George. I can see where Chris gets some of his personality and his big heart from. Find comfort in knowing that he is up in heaven watching over you and waiting for the precious moment when you will all be reunited.

Hello everyone,
I want to say thank you to each and every one of you that came to show your respect and final fair wells to my Dad George Simon . I don't really know where to start but I cannot be there today with the rest of you because I am incarcerated. I was asked to write this and I don't really know what I am suppose to say so I guess I will just speak from my heart and then there will be no incorrect way of of doing this. I am very, very saddened of my fathers passing . I am at a loss for words. We all know that this day will eventually come for all of us but we don't expect it to happen when it does. I know that my Dad would be happy to see all the people that came out to support each other and his family.
How can I describe him for the ones that did not know him on the same level that his family or close personal friends knew him. Ever since I was little, well let me rephrase that since I have never been little, ever since I was younger ( there that’s better ) growing up my Dad was my Idol. I thought that he was the toughest, smartest, and best at everything I saw him do. I use to see him be very giving to all his friends and just about give the shirt off his back to them and then get in trouble with my Mom when they were still married for not having any more money. That was the way he was and that is what brought him joy was to give to other people.
As I got older I grew apart from him and he stayed with his horses and playing cowboy while I was doing the opposite. He would always try to convince me to go to the arena and be around him and the horses. I guess you could say that is where he felt at home, being around the horses and drinking beer with his friends and telling stories. I thought my Dad was a great cowboy but had little patience when it came to trying to teach me how to rope, saddle a horse, or even clean a stall. He would get mad and be mean when I didn't listen to him when he was a lot younger. But as he grew older he became really passive and patient when it came to his grand kids and great grandchildren.
I saw a change in him and would tease him that he was becoming soft. He would get all riled up after that and think was 25 years old again and would try and whoop me. I know that he loved his family very much and would do anything for us and the people he cared about. There are a few of you that are here today that have known him for many, many years and know what I am talking about. I know that my Dad has missed my Nana ever since she passed away in 2007 and has been somewhat lost ever since. She used to spoil and baby her only son so much.
For those of you who didn't know he was a only child born in Hermosillo, Mexico and then came to Tucson when he was about 4 years old . He attended St.Johns school , Wakefield Junior High and graduated from Pueblo High School and attended the Arizona Cochise College for a couple of years to try and and study to be a dentist but stopped going to school and got a job at the mines when he met my Mom and decided to get married and have 2 children. One girl Monica who is my sister and a boy who is the one writing this letter and not doing a good job I might add. I keep on using cuss words and have to erase them because I remember that all of you are in church. Sorry ! My Dad was also in the National Guard Reserves and started flying Cessna airplanes in the early 80's . He would take me up in the plane and have me take control of the plane and get mad when I would get scared and be a chicken and get in the back seat. I see now that he was just trying to help me get over my fears. He also use to take me camping and hunting w/his buddies the Valdez's. He used to think that he could play basketball also, he would come home late to my Nana's house after a night of drinking and be wearing jeans and cowboy boots and a few of my friends would be over and we still be out in the front yard playing basketball and he would want to play with us and say..."That he could beat all of us." My pops was funny in that matter. I might have gotten off the subject at hand but I am trying to give everyone a better image of what kind of man my Dad was. I know in my heart what he meant to me, I loved him so much but at the same time I haven't been the best son to him either. He tried to have a better relationship with me but I never had time or was not interested in being around the horses.
If anyone ever needed to find him if he wasn't working or at home he was at the arena. I want to take this time to say sorry Dad that I am not there for you today and for all the stress that I have caused you. I want to feel in my heart that you are at peace now with Nana and Tata and won't worry about any of us as you have in the past. I need you to know Dad that even though I wouldn't tell you every day that I loved you or spent time with you I appreciate everything that you taught me and tried to show me how to be a man. I know that so many of us are going to miss you and your presence . It is true how they say that you don't know how much someone means to you until they are gone . There are a few of you that were closer to my Dad then others and were there for him when he needed you and I want to say thank you for being such good friends to my Dad . Also thank you very much for all your support to my family and being here today .
I hope that my Fathers positive actions throughout the years out weigh whatever negative ones that he had and can be remembered by all of us for the man that we knew him . We all make mistakes in life, some of us more than others ( me especially ) and we all need forgiveness. I want to say thank you Dad for making me into the man that I am, because if it wasn't for you I probably wouldn't have the strength to over come all the obstacles that I have. You have taught me to have integrity, honor, and respect and for that I am thankful. I guess that is all for now Dad, I hope that you know we will all miss you and continue to love you. I know that I will.

I had known George from when my daughter Dina, started with the escaramuza. We had such good times that will never be forgotten. George was always such a funny person, always happy, and making everybody laugh. He was the light of the Lienzo. George always made things happen! Whenever the girls were down,or stressing, he would come around and give them encouragement so that they would go on. George would help the group so much and was always there for the girls.
George, you will always hold a very special place in our hearts, We will always remember you, and love you. May you rest in peace, and along with the angels
in heaven, watch over us. Thank you, George for everything. LUV U !

Oh my friend,
if you only knew how hard it is to write this. You were supposed to out live me on this journey of life but like everything else you had it your way. This is one bet I hated to have won. A man is measured on not what he achieves on earth but what he leaves behind. When god took you little did he know that you left many good and lasting impressions on fortunate friends that had the priviledge of your friendship and love. Just a quick note:I know your busy like always but you need to know that you left many sadden hearts and you always said you would not be missed, you were wrong my brother your one of a kind my friend and will always be and no one will replace you. You left the Simon bloodline and I know you were very proud of your children. I promise to talk with you everyday and keep you updated on what is going on at the arena. RIP my best friend and please keep the golden gates open for me. Dont go and try to re-do heaven's landscape. My sympathy to Chris,Peter, Monica, Ashley and Oscar. I love you George and I know you will be watching from up above. God bless you, Frank G.Orosco(sambo)

Our sincerest condolences to the Simon family, here is a special poem given to me, when my father passed and I hope it gives you peace as it did for me.
When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in gloom-filled room, why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little-but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me - but let me go.
With love, Luis, Mary, Stephanie and Ernie Leyva
