H. Douglas Heinrichs

H. Douglas Heinrichs was taken from us much too soon on March 21, 2011. Born 1942 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, first son of Walter and Jean Heinrichs, Doug was raised around the country in several places that are now ghost towns before ending up in Tucson. He loved fishing near Grand Lake, Colorado and on the East Fork of the Black River here in Arizona. He even tied his own fishing flies. Doug was also a true woodworking craftsman, making clocks, bowls and numerous other odds and ends. A big teddy-bear of a man, Doug was an All-State football player for Catalina High School Class of 1961. He went on to play for Eastern Arizona J.C, the UofA and even had a brief stint with the Denver Broncos. Doug is survived by his loving wife and business partner, Barbara; son, Ty (Christie), daughter, Alma (Jeff Fisher) of Missouri and son, Ian of Mesa, Arizona. He is also survived by his father, Walter (Rosella); brother, Fred (Mary) of Tucson and six much loved grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. A Memorial and celebration of Doug's life will be held at Grace Community Church, 9755 N. La Cholla Blvd. in Tucson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011.
