James J. Fairbanks Born August 20, 1925 in Bement, Illinois to James and Ella Fairbanks and passed away on May 17, 2013 in Tucson, Arizona. Jim served in WWII with the Army Air Force as member of a B-29 aircrew. He graduated from Bement High School in 1943, playing football and clarinet, then earning a B.S. Degree from James Millikin University, Decatur, IL 1949. Jim was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. His first position was as field engineer for Borg Warner Corporation, becoming a member of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in Menomonee Falls, WI; later being promoted to sales manager in Toledo, OH, finally taking early retirement and moving to Tucson in 1978. He then worked as a salesman and broker with Long Realty, Cottonwood Properties, Estes Corporation and A.F. Sterling Corporation. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty; also sister, Sarah Moore, Monticello, IL. He was a devoted father to sons, David, Joel (Teresa), Jeffrey and daughter, Julie; as well as loving grandfather of five, Claire and Andrew Fairbanks, Candace, Stefan and Danielle Looft. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held for family and friends at the family home. Final arrangements are being made through NEPTUNE SOCIETY.
