James Otto

OTTO, James Melvin Tucson, AZ - 72, went to be with the Lord on Easter, April 16, 2017 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was at home surrounded by family. Survived by his loving wife, Eileen; daughters, Denise (Jay), Wendy (Rajiv), Debra (Conrad); granddaughters, Lennon, Ashley (Ross); sister, Mary Grace; sister-in-law, Joann; nephews, Joe, Cameron. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary; brothers, Ronald, Phillip, Wayne; niece, Camie. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Jim valued family above all else. He cherished his friendships in Milwaukee and Tucson, especially Ron Wolf, Anita Lucht, the Garcia family, Max Mesa, Don Neighbors. No one who met him could forget his friendliness, his courteousness, his warm smile, whether he was browsing at Bookman's or Barnes & Noble, or shopping at Safeway. Jim's gentle nature was reflected in his love and care of the hummingbirds that lived in the yard. Jim had an avid interest in cars, particularly Shelby Mustangs, and maintained a collection of muscle car and drag racing books. He was quick to regale anyone with stories of favorite cars that he had owned or admired. Jim loved Tucson and enjoyed frequenting his favorite restaurants and playing dominoes with his family. The world lost a kind, caring, and compassionate man who shared his smile, warmth, and good humor with all. Jim would like friends and family to remember the good times they shared with him and smile.
