Jessy W. Mercer

Jessy W. Mercer Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend died February 14, 2011 surrounded by his family. Jessy was born April 18, 1923 in Robstown, TX to Jonathan and Inez Mercer. On June 22, 1942 Jessy married Novie Dale Sanders. Jessy served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Returning to Texas after his discharge he began his long career with the Civil Service at the Corpus Christi Navel Base. Retiring in 1972 he and his wife spent many wonderful years traveling the United States in their "home on wheels" before settling in Tucson in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, and son, Barry (Linda); daughter-in-law, Cheryle; four grandsons and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Mercer was preceded in death by his sons, Don and James; brothers, Wade and John. Services were held at the Veterans Cemetery in Sierra Vista. Dad, in life we loved you dearly; in death we do the same. Arrangements by DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME.
