Joe "Che" E. Bernal Joe "Che" left this earth peacefully from the loving arms of his family, on February 13. 2013. Joe was born on September 15, 1933 in Tucson and lived here all his life. Preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Isabel E. Bernal; sisters, Frances Rosas and Alice Mireles. Survived by brother, Martin E. Trevino and sister, RoseAnna Thompson (Thomas); Aurora Fraijo (the love of his life), and his extended family, Abraham Fraijo, Ronald Fraijo (Shelly), Monica Howard (Joseph) ; grandchildren, Michael Duarte, Melissa Gutierrez and Anthony Fraijo; great-granddaughter, Bella Duarte. Joe was a religious honorable man. He served in the US Navy's 3rd CL, aboard the USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier, 1955- 1957, and was honorably discharged. He also served with the See Bees - Reserve Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Seventeen and was awarded the nation's outstanding See Bee in 1968 and 1969, receiving an honorable discharge in February of 1980. Joe retired from the City of Tucson, but greatly missed his friends. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin and a friend to many. His love for family was unconditional and loyal and he loved nothing more than family. Rest in peace, our Hero! Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013, at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone Ave., 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Mass will be offered Tuesday, February 19, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Family and friends may express their condolences by visiting
