John DETTLOFF Obituary

DETTLOFF, John Allen John died January 17, 2017, at home. He was born in Chicago on October 5, 1936, to John August and Jeslava Francesca (Novak) Dettloff. Lured by Arizona Highways photos, John came with his new bride to Tucson, where he earned his BA degree in physics at U of AZ. After working a few years in California at Livermore Labs, John returned to Tucson, where he remained the rest of his life. He held a number of positions at U of AZ, his favorite being teaching architecture students about computers. John loved hiking, classical music, traveling, astronomy, politics, reading and, after retirement, making violins. John was predeceased by his first wife, Faye; his daughter, Christine and his brother, Dennis. Surviving to grieve his passing are his sister, Diane (Bob) Hoffman; his wife, Marilyn; stepchildren, Joanna, Jerrell, Randall and Martin Crayford; assorted grandchildren and many friends. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Those wishing to attend can call 520-299-2554 for further information.

I enjoyed John, his dog Maraya, his violins, his daughter who would gently tease him at times. I'm grateful for John's loving care of my mother and for keeping my old home a happy place. With fond memories and love.
