John Walter "Jack" NOBLE

NOBLE, John Walter "Jack" 86, of Marana, AZ, previously of Chicago, IL, died peacefully in his sleep on November 3, 2016 a few hours after he watched the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joan Louise Noble. Jack was raised in Woodridge, NJ, by John Walter, Sr. and Kathryn Sullivan Noble. The eldest of six children, including Dick, Bob, Larry (d.2014), Mary Lou (Schneider), and Ray, he attended Saint Peter's University and earned his law degree from Georgetown University. As an agent of the FBI, and an attorney for the National Labor Relations Board, Jack and his family relocated several times. They finally settled outside Chicago in 1963, where he and his first wife, Jean Morrissey Noble, raised their five children, John (d.2010) (Julie), Michael (Patsy), Cathleen (Kevin Woodside), Mark (Cynthia), and Paul (Lisa Boone). For more than 30 years, Jack practiced labor law in Chicago at several firms, including Noble, Brown, Sheerin, and Duggin, which he founded in 1967; Vedder Price; Friedman & Koven; Katten Muchin; and Pope Ballard. Among his many clients was the Chicago White Sox, for whom he became, in 1977, the only MLB team attorney ever to win 3 arbitration cases in a single year. In 1999, Jack and Joan retired to Marana, AZ, where Jack served on the police advisory board and was the founding president of the Sunflower Homeowners Association Board of Directors. In addition to his wife, Joan, their friends, his children, 19 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, Jack is also survived by his stepchildren, Bud (Jeannie) and Kathy, as well as Kathy's husband, Gary Huys, who has been invaluable to Jack and Joan in recent years.
