Joseph GONZALES Obituary

GONZALES, Lt. Colonel Joseph U. Born September 16, 1937, passed away March 23, 2017 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by wife, Maria D. Gonzales; sons, Edward and Carlos Gonzales and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was born in Capulin, Colorado. He attended the University of Colorado graduating with honors in Chemistry and Calculus. After graduation Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served our country honorably for 26 years. Joseph was the last SAC Commander at Davis Monthan AFB-390th Strategic Missile Wing, overseeing the dismantling of 17 missile sites in the Tucson vicinity. After his retirement, he volunteered for several years on the Board of Directors at Vantage West Credit Union. Joseph loved his country and his family and was devoted to both. Services will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1375 South Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ 85710. In lieu of flowers, to honor his memory the family suggests donations to Casa de la Luz Hospice

I am sad to have to say good bye my good colonel. You were always on my side weather at the MIMs, Quality Control, and Job Control. I remember the visits on Saturdays in Job Control and the great conversations we had. RIP
