Juanita M. Burruel Born on February 26, 1943 to Cruz Ramirez Jr. and Rita Q. Ramirez, departed during a beautiful sunrise on January 15, 2013. Greeted in death by her father, Cruz Ramirez Jr.; brother, Herbert C. Ramirez; grandson, Roberto M. Yslava "Marty"; stepfather, Joseph Haynes and paternal and maternal grandparents. Survived by mother, Rita Q. Ramirez-Haynes; brother, Bernard D. Ramirez (Cheryl); daughters, Elisa A. Burruel-Yslava (Robert), Debra L. Burruel, Teresa I. Burruel-Romero (Mike); nine grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends. Our mother enjoyed life! She loved to dance, sing, camp, draw, play with all her grandchildren and help others. Mom was a fighter, strong in faith and a dedicated daughter, sister and mother. We are very proud of her accomplishments and contributions to the community. Mom graduated from Pueblo H.S. in 1961 (tennis, bobbie socks dancing, numerous awards); her career included Hartford Insurance Co., Model Cities, Tucson Job Corp. Center, Pima Community College interfaced with legislators, founding member of the La Posada Tradition at PCC East and a long- time member of the Women Health Initiative and the League of Mexican-American Women. She was also a group leader of one of the first Tucson Chapter Fibromyalgia Support Groups. A single mom. Mom's door like her heart, was always open to family, friends, friends of her daughters and our pets. She touched and created wonderful memories with everyone she met. We would like to send a special thanks to all the medical professionals who cared for our mother including staff at Davita (16th & Ajo), St. Mary's Hospital, Tucson Access Center, Mountain View Rehab Center, caregivers (Monica, Michon and Stephanie), wound care nurses (Franny and Danielle) and Casa De Luz Inpatient Hospice.
