Judith THUM Obituary

THUM, Judith Eloise passed on October 30th, 2017, at the age of 66. She was born in Granite City, IL and was a proud Tucsonan for the last 50 years. A beloved mother and grandmother, she was taken from us all too suddenly and soon. We are comforted in the knowledge that she is now reunited in grace with her dearly departed husband of 43 years (Edward J. Thum); along with all the other Saints that have gone before. An accomplished nurse, businesswoman and educator, culminating her spirit of service to others as a parish nurse at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church. After retirement, she was a dedicated volunteer for ICS Community Food Bank, working right up to the days before she left us. An avid reader of many literary genres, she also enjoyed travel and relished taking family on memorable vacations. She was a fierce competitor in the realms of trivia, games and wordplay. She embodied an intellect and wit that were sometimes sarcastic but always good natured. These will sorely be missed by all who knew her. Survived by her sons, Edward, Michael and Gabriel; her grandchildren: Giuseppe, Luciana, Wrilan, Maxwell, Elijah and Nathaniel and her sister, Elaine Hartley (Roy). She loved and cared for us all and her loss has created a void that no words can adequately express. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church, 665 W. Roller Coaster Rd., Tucson, AZ, 85704. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in her name to Interfaith Community Services at www.icstucson.org.

I loved my grandma with all my heart, we were very close and she supported me in many ways. Its very hard for me to accept her passing away so young. I think about her every day and miss her so much.

I hadn't kept up with Judi after Ed passed and I regret it. There's nothing I can do at this point but hope that she is at peace with Ed. She was a great woman and I did enjoy being friends with her over the time I had.

Judi and I often worked together at the ICS food bank. She was so kind and compassionate with all our clients. I enjoyed working with her and I especially enjoyed her sense of humor. Even when she was iexperiencing severe back pain, she was cheerful, which made me appreciate her courage and inspired me to be strong. Although It is hard to realize that she is gone, her spirit remains and I am grateful to have known her. Thank you, Judi.

Praying for your family. Walt and I enjoyed Judi and Ed's company...at work, Hughes Aircraft Company and sharing the Las Conchas Beach house. We will miss Judi and offer many prayers to you and yours.
