Lester STUCKEY Obituary

STUCKEY, Lester Richard 9/6/1926 - 1/20/2018 STUCKEY, Elsie Marie 9/5/1936 - 12/30/2016 The greatest man we ever knew left this world to join his wife, Elsie Marie, in heaven, just 13 months after she made that journey. Daddy left a grand legacy of children and family: Diane (Tom) Willsey, Lynn (Ray) Koch, Dale (Kelli) Stuckey, and Ron (Tamara) Stuckey. With eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-children, this legacy is set to grow for eternity. In addition, his three sisters, Violet Rives, Mae Rude, and Donna Marie Parks remain to carry on his memory with our seemingly countless cousins (perhaps a slight exaggeration). However, the story of our father is not complete without mention of perhaps his finest gift of all; Daddy taught us the importance of integrity, honesty, and devotion. Though he made it look easy, it is now our difficult task to carry on our inheritance by example and teaching to the family he left behind. Lester was born in Vulcan (we kid you not), a small town in Alberta, Canada. (Funny that he loved Star Trek for all his life, especially when Mr. Spock was a principal character.) Dad came to Tucson in 1953 with his close friend, Chester Dunham. With only $150 and a cement mixer, they were able to found a construction company (D & S Construction and Supply) that thrived for nearly 50 years. That enterprise, with his leadership, was the basis for much of his bequest to his family, not in monetary terms, but in the way he structured his life and professional dealings. There has never been a person with more honor in industry or in personal life. We are blessed to be the children and family of both Elsie Marie and Lester Richard Stuckey. May they rest in peace and may we see them again one day, sitting with God in heaven. Please join us for a Celebration of Daddy's life Saturday, January 27, 2018 1:00 p.m., at his home in Copper Crest. Please call Diane at 520-661-4094 for directions. Arrangements by AVENIDAS CREMATIONS & BURIAL.
