Manuel Martinez Obituary

MARTINEZ, Manuel "Mel" A., passed away at the age of 81 on March 22, 2011, surrounded by loving family. Born in Tucson, Arizona on April 12, 1929, he served his country as a proud Marine stationed in Hawaii. Mel retired from the City of Tucson after serving more than 30 years as a Foreman with the Sanitation Department. A humble man, Mel loved the Lord, friends, fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Catherine; daughter, Anna Marie; son, Manny (Sandy); granddaughter, Crystal; daughters, Jessie Alvarez, Rosie Camacho and Pat Martinez. He is survived by three brothers, two sisters and many loving extended family members. Family and friends may gather Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone. Dear Cathy,

Dick and I send our sincere condolences
to you and the family for your loss. I remember you and Mel dancing together so beautifully on the dance floor. I have memories, too, of how much he seemed to love his family and enjoy his home. He is surely resting in peace in the light of the Holy Spirit.
Sincerely,
Rosemary Yancey

My deepest sympathies to Katie, Anna, Mel Jr, Crystal, Jessie, Rosie and Pat. I will miss him dearly. He was my cousin, my brother and my hero. As a child, I always looked to him for comfort and he never failed me. I look forward to the day that God lets us be together again. God Bless you Mel.

We will miss seeing Mel working in his yard and walking around the neighborhood. A fine man that was a pleasure to speak with. Mel had a great sense of humor. God Bless Mel.
