Maria Julia Valencia Diaz 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on the morning of December 27, 2012. She was born in Tucson on March 16, 1926. Maria was a Yaqui tribal member raised in Old Pasqua. She was the loving mother of eight children with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. She enjoyed telling stories about her life and keeping her children up to date on family news. She is preceded in death by parents, Juan Valencia and Matilde Luzania Valencia; husband, Toribio L. Diaz and loving grandson, Terry L. Nichols. She is survived by her children, Gloria (Joe) Gonzalez, Jennie (Russ) Wyatt, Julie Castro, David (Thyra) Diaz, Tony (Ester) Diaz, Annie (Gilbert) Molina, Patty (Manny) Fragoso and Eddie (Imelda) Diaz; grandchildren, Johnny (Angel), Marie, Celeste (James), Teresa (Jamie), Michael (Blaire), Lucrecia, Ashleigh, Julie, Erica (Wilson), Ricky, David, Maricella, Joseph, Elysa, Danielle, Augustine, Sebastian, Jacob and Giovanni; eight great-grandchildren. Our gratitude and thanks to the Pasqua Yaqui Tribe and her friend Victoria for making the last months more enjoyable. Visitation will be held at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Rosary recited at 7: 00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Cathedral, 192 S.
