For sixty years my brother - I have always had your kindred spirit close by -- able to touch in some fashion -- as we walked our separate destiny. You have lived an exemplary life of family and service -- the accolades attest to that ... JOB WELL DONE ... and know Our Father has greeted you home -- whispering to you and heard by us all "Welcome Home My Good and Faithful Servant!"
As Jerry gave nuiance -- keep an eye on us -- until we unite again -- hopefully also celebrating our own service to others -- which you have dramatically and selflessly demonstrated to us in your journey.
Namaste,
Peter Forrest, M.D.

I miss my dear friend. What a loss to his family, his friends and our community. He gave to all. A community just can’t replace a guy like Mike. He was important to so many different varied community challenges and worked hard for the city he loved.
Mike always had a story and frequently a raffle ticket. It was recurrently worth the ticket to get the story. He did not do idle gossip and seldom spoke poorly of anyone. He was relentlessly upbeat, enthusiastic and fun to be around.
He had a wonderful recollection of past events and visiting with him was a walk down memory lane. We will miss him deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with Charlotte, and his extended family.

I have known Mike personally for only a short time, but in that span I found a man who was just plain good to the bone. He was a terrific human being. At a time like this, people all get kind of numb and in lots of ways don't know how to act. Mike's passing reminded me of how fragile life really is, and how the best of us often are taken first. I have no idea why that is. I will miss Mike, truly, and our entire community will be the poorer for it. Men like Mike are rare. It was an honor to know him.

Mike Harris taught a class I took in the late '70's at the UofA when he was the head of Tucson Hospital. I don't remember many teachers but I remembered him. His wit and common sense made for a great class. Later I saw he became a successful realtor and active in the community. I truly regret his passing.

I recall my my Godfather, "Uncle" Mike, as one of the most kind-hearted, generous people I've known. Always willing to find time for an "interview" for a college paper or to drive across town to bring me a Barbie Doll on my 8th (or was it 9th?) birthday. Mom & Dad have plenty of Uncle Mike stories to keep the memory alive so you will be remembered always. Rest in peace you kind soul.

Although Mike's illness and death happened so quickly, he lived a full life and was a real community guy. I had the honor of serving with Mike on the MTCVB board for a number of years and then the Tucson Airport Authority. More recently, he was pitching funding increases to United Way from my firm. My deep condolences to Char, Tim and the rest of the Harris family. He will be missed.

Mike Harris had a profound effect on everyone who knew him He was one of the most generous and giving men I have ever known. The contributions he quietly made to our community are too numerous to count, but let it be said, when Tucson was in a tight spot -- whether with the threatened closure of DM or the collapsing of our medical system -- Mike Harris was the go- to guy. This year he agreed to lead the United Way campaign in the wake of scandals, a job no one really wanted. Yet, had Mike lived, we know he would have made it a success. Year after year, I suggested that Mike should be named "Man of the year." Yet it never happened becasue he refused to campaign for the honor. Maybe this year, in recognition of a lifetime of service, we can finally extend him this recognition. The old cliche says that we can all be replaced. But there will never again be a Mike Harris. . .Terry Bracy

Harris Family -
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. I can only imagine the memories of Mike you are sharing and how that is somewhat comforting. He was truly a model for me to be a better husband, father, family member, friend and businessman. He always reminded me of the Dad on Happy Days and my own father.
With a smile on my face I can think of numerous times I have been with Mike on listings and see Mike always working on the listing's landscaping himself. Usually he was cut up from "just getting in there", often bleeding and always wanting to do more! He didn't like a mess!
I will miss his willingness to always make you better, his words of wisdom on life, constructive criticism, breakfast at AJ's, his positions in a debate, his devotion to his friends/family and watching him interact with his grand kids. I will especially miss the humor shared while discussing his strategies and thoughts of the official count (score) on his battle with the Pack Rats.
I will miss you Mike.
