Michael Spiess Obituary

Michael Spiess was born on December 30, 1947. He fought a long, brave battle against cancer that ended on April 27, 2013. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of family and friends. Mike was born in Virginia and moved to Arizona in 1964 with his mother Joan Cornett, who predeceased him. He graduated from the UofA where he shared a class with "Mar-See-Ya" his loving wife. Marcia and Mike were dedicated "Wildcat" fans over the course of their 43 year marriage. Their family consisted of their only child, Jerome (Heather) and his grandchild, Madeline Jewel (the apple of his eye). He also had a stepfamily: father, Walter Spiess (Norma Jean), Ricky, Dick and Denise. All family and close friends are singing "Happy Trails to You" knowing he is now blazing a new trail. He loved to explore out of the way places. This is simply a new adventure for Mike to supplement all his lifetime explorations. Pastimes included: water and snow skiing, motorcycle riding, cattle round-up and branding, hiking, tennis, golf, boating, camping and all learning opportunities. He participated regularly on charity bike rides in southern Arizona and Mexico. Thank you to Casa de la Luz Hospice for the exceptional home care. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice. There will be a private celebration of his "LIFE" Saturday, May 11, 2013. To view pictures www.tinyurl.com/AZ-Mike
