Mildred Peylock Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Peylock of Chandler, Arizona and formerly of Tucson, Arizona passed away Wednesday May 18, 2011 at Villa Jean Group Residence in Chandler, Arizona. Millie was 89 years old. She was born in Clairton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Bosilka and Marco Gurgevich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rodney Peylock and by her sister, Nada Bozic of Clairton, Pennsylvania and her brother, Mike Gurgevich of Harlingen, Texas. Millie is survived by her three daughters, Lynda Marie Peylock, Janet Claire Peylock (Allan Jackson) and Patti Ann Calkins (Brian Calkins). She is also survived by two grandchildren, Molly Elizabeth and Andrew Thomas Calkins. Special friends that she leaves behind are Mary Iglehart and Bernice Jackson. Millie grew up in Clairton, Pennsylvania where she attended and graduated from Clairton High School. She spoke both Serbian and English fluently. She married Tom Peylock in 1945. Tom and Millie lived many years in Tucson, Arizona where they raised their three children. Mildred was a homemaker and eventually began her 20 year career at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson. After her retirement, she devoted many years in service to the Southside Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. Millie and Tom enjoyed their retirement together. They loved taking weekend "getaways" to Laughlin, Nevada, for fun at the casinos. They also enjoyed visiting their daughters and their grandchildren. Millie moved to Tempe, Arizona in 2001. WYMAN'S FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family with arrangements. Millie will be interred with her husband, Tom at the Veterans Cemetery at Fort Huachuca, in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
