Patricia HINE

HINE, Patricia Maynard Born February 27, 1930 Died February 14, 2017 Pat Hine enjoyed a life full of love, adventure and service. Born in Memphis, TN, she and her family moved to Santa Monica, CA when Pat was ten. She graduated from Samohi and UCLA, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and more significantly, met her husband, Richard; they married December 26, 1951. As her husband's career developed, Pat moved the family around the world - the Philippines, Hawaii, Brazil, Delaware, Minneapolis - as well as several trips to Central America and Asia. The family settled in Tucson in 1967 when Richard joined the UA faculty as Professor of Plant Pathology. Pat earned an MS in Education at UA, and spent several years tutoring children with reading difficulties. She volunteered with Planned Parenthood and the Arizona Cancer Center, and was a member of Casas Adobes Congregational Church. Pat was passionate about reading, dogs, music, exercise and tennis - but most of all, her dear friends and family. In addition to her husband, Richard, Pat is survived by her children, Katherine Hine Sementilli (Phil), Bill Hine (Barbara Salerno), Ruth Hine Musto (Eric), Richard Hine and her two adored granddaughters, Abigail and Emeline Hine Musto. The family has held a private celebration of Pat's life, and requests that remembrances be sent to Planned Parenthood or the charity of your choice
