Patricio P. "Pat" LOPEZ Jr.

LOPEZ, Patricio "Pat" P., Jr. was born in Tucson on February 11, 1935. He passed out of this life on March 2, 2017. Pat's greatest joy in life was his family; he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marsha and his children, Debra (Les) Caid, Pat (Marilou) Lopez III, Steven (Megan Nelson) Lopez, Danelle (Donald) Kornberg, Cyndi (Joe) Dain, Lynda (Douglas) Hartzler and Bryon (Teresita Pinacho) Lopez; stepchildren, Michelle Farren-Blain and Raymond Farren; and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Pat was one of four children born to Patricio R. and Lydia Lopez Sr. He is survived by three siblings, Sr. Mary Elena, Robert (Joyce) Lopez and Alice (Dave-deceased) Mullon. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Barbara (Paul) Hodges. Pat attended Salpointe High School where he was in the first graduating class, having formed numerous strong friendships which remain today. As an insurance broker, with the CLU designation, in the Tucson community for over 40 years, Pat served on the insurance advisory board for local school districts among many other service organizations including being a cofounder of Tucson's VIP business club in the early 1970's. Pat had a passionate love for nature and took delight in gardening, the outdoors, pets, politics and community involvement. After retiring, he dedicated his time to these enjoyments. As a master gardener, he passed along his great love to his children along with his wise words saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it;" instilling the value of respecting others and kindness. At the end, Pat's life was impacted by Alzheimer's, which limited his direct involvement with the things he held dear. However, his heart remained interested. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. both at St Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd., Tucson, AZ 85718. A reception will follow the Mass. A scholarship fund has been established in Pat's name at Salpointe High School. Charitable donations may be made to the Pat P.
